Dear Members,
The Fremont-Custer Historical Society has chosen the recipient for the annual "Doc" Little Memorial Award - it is our own Jeannie Culpin! The award will be given to Jeannie on Sunday, January 15, 2012, 2:00 p.m., at the FCHS meeting held at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Canon City.
This prestigious award was initiated in 1986 to honor the late "Doc" Little, editor of the Canon City Daily Record and charter member of FCHS. Wilbur T. (Doc) Little was a local historian using both his writings and photography. The award is given annually to a person who has significantly contributed to the preservation, education, and dedication of historic sites and the rich heritage of Custer and/or Fremont County. The Society prefers persons "who are making history now" and how well we know that "our Jeannie" fills those shoes!
Get your 2012 calendar out; mark the date of January 15th; attend the recognition ceremony for one of our very own. The program will feature the "Spirits From the Past" with refreshments at the conclusion.
Congratulations, Jeannie!
Margaret
