HAPPY AUTUMN everyone! September has flown bye and is now history...
Our monthly meeting will be this Saturday, October 8th, at 10:00 a.m., in the Society meeting room in Wetmore.
Your Board met two weeks ago to formulate a plan of attack on our book, WOW! Women of Wetmore. The book is not an overnight process and we've not set a deadline for completion. The focus will be to preserve the stories of the courageous women who partnered in settling the Wetmore-Hardscrabble area; they had faith, fortitude, and vision. We set dates to run from 1860 to 1920; however, we may have to stop at 1910 or 1900, as we're not doing an encyclopedia. The woman needs to have lived in the Wetmore-Hardscrabble area during this timeframe. There are at least 19 resources that we can utilize in the research. We'd like to include at least 5 photographs for each family. Each participant will be required to sign a release/gift document to the WHGHS on their submissions. If you have your family history written, bring it Saturday so we can show how the format will glean the woman's information. If you have no history, we'll show how to begin gathering your information. We already have a listing of almost 80 women's names! In other words, the program will be a work session after the formal business is completed.
We need and want your input! See you Saturday.
