CELEBRATE OUR HERITAGE
Fremont County Sesquicentennial Anniversary (150 years)
and
WHG&HS - 6 year Anniversary

  

Dear Members,

  

The new Board members thank you for the opportunity to serve the Society.  Our first order of business is to CELEBRATE OUR HERITAGE with a picnic/potluck on August 13, 2011, at the History Center from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m.  The invitation below gives all the details.  The Wetmore community, Fremont County historical societies and museums, and the Commissioners from Custer and Fremont Counties have been invited.

  

Wetmore was in Fremont County from 1861 when it was named one of the original 17 counties of Colorado Territory through 1876 when Colorado became a State.  In 1877, Custer County was carved out of Fremont County and Wetmore was included as Custer County.  Our beginnings correspond with the Sesquicentennial and it is fitting that we celebrate with Fremont County.  Meet some of the "Spirits from the Past" as they tell their stories from their early days in the County.
